why did you say at the start of the video that it was prob the best mod you can do when its actually the worst one. power mods for the fto start with the exhaust, decat and downpipes. a filter like that will only suck hot air from under the bonnet onto the engine and reduce power because hot air has more volume than cold air therefore less oxygen to burn. on the other hand a good handeling fto will much better to drive so 1 mods should really be lowering springs ,gas shocks and strut braces maybe better tyres aswell. ive had pod filters in the fto b4 and the best filter is the standard box with a pannel filter in it.

good video tho thought it was gunna be a porno with all them sheep lol

if done right, with a box etc, it can be one of the better mods you do. But yes of course doing the exhaust is going to be better, but the exhaust is say ~$1,000. This is $40 :p
Probably should have said 'best value for money' etc.

yea it value for money as in cheaper. but will reduce your mpg. a decat and system exhaust will give you more mpg and without the exhaust all your gunna get from a pod filter is more noise

Not necessarily. If a cold air feed is run up to the pod, or cone filter, you get more power.

no you would need a fully enclosed pod like the carbon fiber jobbies for that to work not just a cold air feed. and they dont come cheap for the real ones made with carbon fiber and not a plastic lookalike. and even then to make the most of intake you need a good free flow exhaust. remember the ambient temp under the bonnet is about 80-90 degrees when driving ,outside air temp is about 40-70 degrees colder

I like my cone filter, gains or none. Infact, I haven't bothered refitting the cat since I had it removed for the first nct in 2011.

dont get me wrong, yea they sound awsome and the wee suck sound they make when you turn the engine off is cool. but they are not a performance mod by themselves, they trick you into thinking your car is faster because it sounds faster. to get the most from an fto forget about power unless you chuckin in a vr4 lump and just improve how it holds the road, thats all im tryin to say. if you spend say £40 in a cone filter just think another £30 would get you lowering springs or an extra £10 would get you a front strut brace or £40 would get you s/steel braded hoses for the breaks all of which are better mods on the road than a filter that increases your fuel bill

+1 - when I got my first ITG back in the day, the car transformed into a Mivec wailing banshee with a sound so infectious that I had to head out for a drive every evening for about a year !! ;-)

Goz - have you been passing NCTs without a Cat installed ? Mine is due in for its annual check-up on Friday with Cat present, but I am itching to get rid of it again afterwards.

There was a good discussion on the pros & cons for these a couple of years back...

I meant to say decat. My car almost passed with the cat, but ultimately it needed it to pass :(

The cat is still in place and I don't foresee a time again when I will bother bolting on the decat pipe.

@ Bernard: I think if I had the decat pipe for the RR day, you'd have been buying me the happy meal ;D

I removed the cat on mine not long after I got it, we don't have any standard yearly tests etc here that require emissions testing :D

Only a matter of time I'd say before they include emissions into the NZ WOF testing.

Not anytime soon I reckon, theyve actually relaxed on it this year.
