Where to find correct part numbers? FTO GPX MIVEC

Postby Bartpabicz » Fri Jun 10, 2011 12:48 am

Hi again,

I just came back from my mechanic with a list of what needs doing. I have part names, however I'm missing part numbers which would come in handy when dealing with traders in Poland (prices...). I downloaded parts listing, but to be perfectly honest I'm a bit confused there. Could I ask a kind soul to lend me a hend and ascertain which parts are for this model of the car? My FTO is GPX, MIVEC, 2l engine with Triptronic gearbox, Japanese import from mid 1996. Chassis number DE3A0102698, Engine Number 0A128962010; HRGH.

The parts are as follows:

Alternator Belt (MD184973)
Power Assisted Steering/Air Conditioning Belt (none found)
Timing Belt (MD179620)
Tensioner Pulley (none found)
(Anything else I might be missing belt-wise?)
Engine Oil Filter (MD317439)
Gearbox Oil Filter (none found)
Air Filter (none found)
Fuel Filter (none found)

That's about it when it comes to post-purchase mandatory sevicing (as far as I know that is, I know nothing about mechanics - if anyone might have recommendations, please, by all means, post them here). As for the other parts that need replacing, along with probable part numbers I found in a document on the web:

2x Anti-roll bar links (front)
2x Anti-roll bar bushes (rear)
4x camshaft seal (MD153103)
1x cram shaft seal (all five to be changed to fix the oil leak as there is a somewhat big oil residue when car is looked at from beneath - providing this is the reason for it of course...)
...And two parts that I cannot name, as even mechanics were confused about it's name. Let me post a picture here

The sight is as you'd be looking at inside of rear left wheel, having rear bumper to your left, and front one to your right. If anyone knows what this part is called, I'd really appreciate clarifying that.

Now, my kind request to you would be to confirm these part numbers are correct, and which parts I have mentioned might be gotten from a different model of car (eg. colt, galant - that's what I found out on the web at least - might be wrong here).

Also, does anyone know if getting some of these parts from a broken FTO would work? Plenty of scrap yards around...

I can't express how grateful I would be for helping me out with these issues posted here. I need to have the car up and ready for when my insurance goes through... in a month or so

You might as well change the waterpump if you're doing the belts as well. And maybe spark plugs.

ok, as advised by Sebastian, I got some more information form Camskill site. Here's the updated list:

Alternator Belt (MD184973 from Camskill and SPmotor)
Power Assisted Steering/Air Conditioning Belt (MD321692 from CamSkill)
Timing Belt (MD179620 from SPmotor; MD211195 MD313673 A731YU30MM from CamSkill)
Tensioner Pulley (MD316826 6006RRID PU106218G from Camskill)
Engine Oil Filter (MD317439 from SPmotor; MD360935 from CamSkill) - first one either comes up as oil cap on some occassions, or filter, the other is from camskill website.
Gearbox Oil Filter (MD752072 from CamSkill)
Air Filter (MB906051 from CamSkill)
Fuel Filter (MB868459 from CamSkill)

2x Front Anti-roll bar links (droplinks) (MR131680; MR272116 from CamSkill)
2x Rear Anti-roll bar bushes (MR197003 from CamSkill)
4x Camshaft Seal (MD153103 from CamSkill)
1x Crank Shaft Seal (MD168055 from CamSkill)

As for the unknown part on the picture below...

it might be a long dogbone from what I can say from camskill description on their website. Can anyone confirm this?

I decided to pop in a Water Pump as well, which is cheap enough. Thanks for the tip Dragonheart. I can pass on plugs for the time being, can I not? They're easy to replace, right?

So, in other words, here's a set of questions from me, to you, dear reader:

1. Could someone confirm the part depicted above is Rear Upper Arm/Long Dogbone. If so, it'll hurt - 50 euro each, and I need two.
2. Can this Dogbone part come from a used/broken car?
3. Can any of the abovementioned parts (like droplinks/bushes/dogbones be gotten from a different model of car (eg. colt, galant etc.).
4. Can spark plugs be changed at a later stage? And does it involve a lot of labor?

Thanks for the info so far!

Is that not the droplink in your picture? Make sure you have the right droplinks when ordering, theres a different pair for rear if the car is lowered.
Also, the front 3 plugs are easy to change, the rear three are a pain cause you have to take off the rear manifold to get at them.

for comparison reasons, here are the links to Long Dogbone:

http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m3b0s10p838

short dogbone

http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m3b0s10p840

and droplinks

http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m3b0s10p359

if you can tell which part is depicted in the post above, I would REALLY appreciate that. It's a matter of... well, 60 euros  I'm thinking... aren't droplinks to the left in the middle? Sort of "stuck" to the shock? Just where "wheel" word ends on the picture. I'm no mechanic, but visually it seems similar.

By the way, how can I tell if my car has been lowered or not?

Hi again everyone.

I got a reply for the guy in CamSkill. This mysterious part from the picture is called Rear Long Dogbone Arm, or Rear Upper Arm Link Long, if I'm correct.

I appreciate all the input Dragonheart and Sebastian, you've been most helpful, I will have to however take another angle at the problem - getting this FTO up to speed will cost me around 500 euros. I'm considering actually selling the GPX, along with it's insurance problem and get a GX.

> EDITED: It felt weird when I read the question I asked. Decided to remove it altogether <

Again, thanks for your time and attention.
