some bstard stole my fto last nite

was just home from work around 11pm and i sat down to something to eat, half hour later went to go on the computer for the usual surf etc before bed. sitting here heard a horn going outside looked out to see 3 wan**ers in the middle of trying to steal my car.
the car was about 200 yards up the road from my front windo with horn beeping and a green volvo with another guy sitting in it while other 3 tried to get my car.
i jumped out my living room window ready to face them and realised hold on theres 4 of these so jumped straight back in phoned 999 got police immediatly as it was still i progress. police station is 30 seconds walk from where i live but by road 2-3 mins max. got up and chased the car from where i live in newtownards to cregagh in belfast and the police lost them.
i am totally devastated!
look at the state the car was left in!
the only thing that saved it was a 99p steering lock from halfords which i used as a visual deterrant only!
un f**ing believable.
just spent ££ 000's on car between bodykit about to go on, tv/dvd system just installed last week, sound system curtisy of KACE here on the forum.
am totally devastated just thought i would inform you guys in case you have had any similar probs. i am fully insured but between an immigrant hitting me last weekend and athis it has sent me over the top!
will be needing a lot of help to get the car back on the road now so if anyone can help please let em know.

Thats horrible. Would'nt wish that on anyone. My car is white too so its not a nice image to have. At least they didn't write it off. Hope all works out ok for ya.

Sorry to hear about this - but on the positive side - it doesn't look like much was stolen - tv/dvd etc.

I have had recent experience of this with a mates car.
A lot of stuff was taken from the car and the door was opened with a crow bar. The same gang also robbed another mates car the same night. A week later we found all the stolen stuff in some scumbags car inside in town - found out the guys name and gave licence plate and name details to the guards - absolutely nothing done about it! So scumbag was made aware in no uncertain terms what we thought about him -

Makes my blood boil especially as I know exactly how you feel after having my first gti stolen! Lately though I've become pretty philosophical about this whole thing - the problem is that if they really, really want it they will try to take it. And they are more than likely prepared to go to much greater lengths to get it than we (well me anyway) would be to protect it (i.e. violence).

For me the important thing is no-one got hurt as the car can be replaced. I know that's no real comfort right now though

The only thing we can do is try to play the game better than they do - make sure you have a top quality alarm/tracker, fit security film on your windows, park in brightly lit & public places (if possible), get locking post for driveway (if applicable), get a good house alarm.... etc.

You need to get a disklok. I am fairly sure thats what has saved mine several times.

went yesterday to collect my car from police recovery yard. couldnt even get in to collect it as the fingerprints had not been done as yet.
i will find out today exactly what damaged has been caused by tonite so i will be able to get a list of parts together needed ( in hope im not needing too much and im sure i will get a bit of help form anyone who has spares. )

you are right soc it was just good that noone was hurt including myself.
like an idiot i jumped out my living room window to find 3 in the car and another in the volvo waiting it could have ended up nasty for me if i didnt get back into the house.
i have already got on the ball.
camera system set up from my front window, alarm/immobi on the car and shotgun in the store!
i will get them in them long grass.

dean in reply to yours. the car was driven about 100yards up the road and conked out.
so they actually escaped in the Volvo. ( how the police cannot catch a volvo 440 is beyond me )
i dont know if that is the immobiliser on the car as factory fitted or whether they just couldnt steer it due to steering lock.

you can see the biger images so you can see the steering wheel would have actually been on the floor if it hadnt of been for it resting on the seat.
so i am taking it that the steering rack/column has totally snapped.
i wil agree with everyone i am glad that i was not hurt but the gut wrenching feeling to look out your window and see it happen in front of your face with nothing you can really do about it is hard to stomach,.
i will get them. revenge is sweet!.

needing all plastics for upper and lower of the steering wheel.
i am needing door lock, ignition barrel and suppose a boot lock aswell.
steering adjust bracket.
they seemed to have broken in from the bottom of the steering wheel and ripped the tilt n slide off the steering wheel giving them access to the barrel whisc was pulled out from behind and started.
have got the car down getting fixed now but will possibly need some of the parts mentioned so if anyone can help gimme a sout.
also needing a SHOTGUN, so if anyone can help gimme a bell.

hey maud that squad are good peopsalright.
got all plastics for dash etc. ignition plug for back of ignition next day recorded delivery £25.
spot on hopefully have the car back on the road by tuesday.

went and bought myself an astra to kick about in. bet it doesnt even get a second look.
well who would look at an astra anyway.
i am driving wit my head down at the minute but hopefully back on road soon.
