Timing belt alignment

Postby dbuckley » Sat Mar 29, 2008 9:28 pm

Would anybody out there have a diagram of the timing marks to align the timing belt on the crankshaft and camshaft pullys?

What type of engine is it. 1.8 / 2.0l

If its the 2.0l v6 the timing marks are small indents on the front face/edge of the cam wheels.
These line up with two small indents on the edge of the rear cam covers..
the same applies to the front cam.

The only cam is different is the third cam thats the one behind the first looking at the engine staight on.

The mark for this is in behind the cam wheel is a raised line . it can be hard to see but if you line up the rest you will see it no probs.

Bottom pully lines up with the T mark on the plastic cover at the crank pully.
sorry i have no pic for ya i didnt have time when i changed my cambelt.

But make sure you mark everything with tipex including the old belt. And mark the new belt exactly as the old one and you should have n prob.

One more thing never try and adjust the cams with the cam pully bolts the cams will slip on the belt teeth and you will be in trouble.
always use a socket on the bottom pully

Good luck
