Hey guys been a while since i posted, need a bita help, manual gearbox, today parked up went to reverse the car and none of the bottom gears are engaging! only 1,2,5, nd the resting position of the gear shifter is lying abit off, is it the linkages? and how would i go about fixing this.

Sounds like a gearbox synchromesh problem, have a talk with your mechanic about the options.

Any gearbox oil replacement history with the car?

Car back on the road:D, Paul Nolan took her in, was a broken gear linkage!, i asked him to have a look at first gear as it was a bit sticky, i have never felt the gears as easy and free,, so smooth, would recommend anyone with sticky gears check the linkages, cars goin great did the steering rack ends a few weeks ago car is driving like a dream, know im not sure weather to give the timing belt ago, was talkin to Paul Nolan about, was so sound said it is a trciky one but if i had any major issues he'd call down to the house! what a sound guy, i sent allot of business his way and will keep doing so.

Did the steering rod ends myself, got the tracking and linkages done by Paul, honestly can't remember the price but was not expensive under 100, the linkages are doable yourself if there gone just need to be taken out and welded.

Dont worry paul your not the only one thats not that way inclined. If it wasn't for my is's fella I wouldn't be able to to anything with the car. So far I could do a service, put in some lowering springs (if I had some clamps), change the p/s and alternator belts but I still feel like I know nothing in comparison to most on here. Some of the girls know more than I do, and that just doesn't seem right to me (no offence girls, I just think that its something a guy should know more about, as with DIY etc).
