Fun, fun, fun this weekend!

Postby soc » Mon Oct 06, 2003 1:37 pm

Saturday night (approx 9pm) came off M50 at tallaght junction and heading towards Rathfarnham - some little toe-rag in a "YARIS" decided to drive 2 inches from my bumper...... so I slowed to 20mph and let it rip in 2nd...... accelerated away easy. I slowed again to stay under speed limit and he decided he was definitely an a**hole and did it again. So I did same again..... left him for dust. When he did a 3rd time I decided I'd had enough so as we approached a roundabout I just maintained a constant speed and (making sure there were no cars on the roundabout drove straight through it at about 30-35mph..... he obviously didn't realise how well an FTO handles and just followed me.... haha, his s**t mobile understeered like a bugger and crossed from inside lane to outside lane and "barely" missed the curb on the outside of the round about...... suffice to say he did not drive very close to my after that!

I suppose I felt a bit stupid for getting involved in something like that as he could have been in an accident but to be honest when I think what he could have done by ploughing into me if I had to slam on I stop caring.

On another note.... I actually scared myselt a bit this morning on the way to work - no traffic and heading out on the coast road from blackrock towards merrion and I a "shiny tracksuit idiot" decides he wants to have a go in his 1995 colt gli.... dropped from 4th to 2nd at about 35mph and floored it..... WOW....... the car just flew. I obviously caught it just right with revs and gear change but christ I was trembling after I slowed the acceleration was that fierce....

I love my car :)!

Well i have to say i'm almost the opposite, when i get some pr*ck driving that close i just ease of the happy pedal and let it slow down. they will either get the idea and back off or go for the overtake. Now if they back off i speed back up and just keep doing that over and over if the continue to sit on my bumper, But if the go for the overtake, the moment i see either and indicator or the car move out then i floor it back up to speed, and continue to do that till they have given up, pisses some people off no end.

Aye that can be the down side alright, but if you slow down and speed up within the limits there isn't much they can say.

I'd say that was an interesting conversation alright - it's a sad state of affairs when members of our police force are acting just like the idiot boyracers that cause so much havoc on the roads........ you'd think a (ban) garda would have a bit more self-respect than to go tarting up a 1.4lt astra - does make me mad sometimes when I think of the crap they get up to :x
