ticking noise in engine

can anyone help me.
i got my new gpx manual and there is a ticking noise in the engine,
it has been run on fully synthetic oil, it has been run on high octane fuel.
i dont know what it is. it seems like a tapid sort of ticking noise and i am afraid it is something major,
can anyone advise me of what they might think it is.

Sounds like its your tappetts - you may need to get them adjusted.

i was hoping this is what it was as the car is 100% apart from that. i just was unsure if it was anything to worry about.
definatly ok then. just get the tappetts checked?
also the abs light comes on? when the key is turned and stays on while im driving.
what can cause this.?
is this easily resloved?

Hi there,

if your ABS light stays on there is a problem somewhere but you can get the error codes for it from here http://www.ftooc.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=31351 and it tells you how to extract the codes and what they mean.

ticking as has been mentioned will prob be your tappets and the abs light coming on could be that your brakes are nearing their limit, or am i thinking of the handbrake light hmm. worth checking your brake pads anyway

It will be an intermittant fault somewhere but the codes should still be stored in the ECU so worth checking. It only takes ten minutes.
