New spark plugs!

Postby kevinod » Thu Mar 13, 2008 12:59 am

Spent most of today changing my spark plugs, back and front. Turned out the old ones were well shot, new ones have made a good difference, engine sounds better, and drives a little better. :D

Tbh I didn't think there was anything wrong with the way it was driving, but had these for a while and finally got around to installing today.

Job pretty straight forward, even the back bank, just took longer than I thought.

I have a pic of a back one coming out against one going in I must get uploaded.

Yeah, changed mine a few months ago. Who ever had car before me had put in platiniums front and back so they were good for more miles. Put in Iridiums this time and car did feel sweeter again :D
Not a difficult job to do at all. I took my time, cleaned a few bits and it only took and hour plus I replaced the ignition leads. 'Hardest' part is holding up the manifold out of the way! Anyone could do this and it would save a labour charge in a garage. Good idea to stick some copper paste on the plug threads also.
 It's a good time to change the fuel filter also with the manifold out of the way as it's tricky to get too.

Pic of the new plug beside one of the ones that came out of the back bank. The front plugs were worse!
