For anyone (like myself) running linux and who wants to use their ipod without having to find a windows box or a mac - check out gtkpod....

http://www.gtkpod.org/

Works really well....

And something else I just came across is the denison "icelink" which lets you interface your ipod with a standard headunit....

As I'm a "creative head" you should take this with a pinch of salt...
...I have heard from many sources how terrible Apples aftersales service is - but then having been a Creative employee I wouldn't have heard any positive stories about apple.

Have a few colleagues here in my Present job with Ipods (minis - normals & nano) - and all of them seem to develop intermiddent fault after a while.. It's very odd altogether.

I have no personal experiences with Apple service as I've opted for the Creative products instead. Having worked there I know the peeps answering the phones when you call actually prefer to help you so that they'll have a more pleasant call.

...as I said I'm probably just biased - it's quite possible that yours will not break - and even if it does apple might be nice to you...

Oh hey.,. ,On a related matter you might find this very boring..

I find it mildly amusing :-)

Well I work with Sun and we have an employee purchase agreement with them so I'm assuming there won't be any issues should I need to beat down on a customer services rep....... ;)

Interesting read on the patents...
