Breaking an FTO

Say if I could get a 1994 GPX fot less than €400...what kinda money should I get for selling the bits.

To make things a little more fun, I was thinking, buy the car, sell the bits, and anything I sell that brings me over the €550 mark I'll donate the cash to the site. It is feasible to expect that kinda money out of a break?

It was once feasable, but TBH, there are so many FTOs for breaking now that prices have fallen. You'll find that once you've sold the centre console headlights and wings, that everything else will take ages to shift.

Thanks for the advice Colm. It was just a thought considering it's so cheap.

On a separate note Colm? Your car is very...tight. Did you do anything with the gear linkage? Also, when you did your droplinks did you use the whiteline ones or the standard ones? I was VERY impressed when I drove it the other day.

I used Camskill droplinks, the ARB bushes were done before I got it too.

the car had a very easy life before I got it, the gearchange was always sweet and tighter than FTOs with half the mileage. Having the original gearknob actually makes a difference too. Aftermarket ones tend to make the lever seem longer.

If you think you might need parts, a €400 FTO will give you lots. Depends on how much of the green FTO you intend on changing.

It's not so much what I want to change, it's more to earn a few quid to change all the bits I want to get for my FTO.

i suggest if there is anything you change to your fto do it with Brand New stuff for best results

I agree with this..

an old fto is going to get you old parts...quite possibly that same age as the parts your going to replace.. so unless you're in need of something major.. Like an engine..Chassis..or such..I wouldnt' be too bothered..

That's what I mean. I'd not be using anything on it. It's purely to sell the parts to have money to buy new parts, subsidise my spending a little.
