I was caught many times when I got the FTO first. Have only ever had a max of 2 points though, however very nearly got this increased to 4 a number of months ago

I've been stopped twice in situations where the guard didn't have speed detection equipment and have been asked what speed I was doing. In both cases I was let off for obvious reasons. Theres a lot to be said for courtesy when a guard knocks on your window!

It all depends who you meet.
I was done for doing 40 in a 30 (thankfully before points came in) but was let off with doing 95 in a 60.

The guard asked if I realised what speed I was doing, so I told the truth.
I said I did, but only after I saw the speed trap. I was told to go on my way but take it easy...

A good few years ago I was stopped on the M1 by a guard who told me that he was doing 110MPH when he came on to the road and that he couldn't catch me.

I had been puching it but I was in an old shape astra and I pointed out to him that the cars speedo didn't go past 110 so it was unlikely that he was right. Surprisingly, he just gave out to me for a bit and let me off with a warning.

Those were the days.

You should have asked him who did he think he was driving at 110mph!?
