Drivers Window

Postby FTOny » Sun Feb 15, 2009 9:28 pm

Drivers side window has been acting up recently.
On opening/ closing the drivers window, it gets stuck at a couple of points.

I'm thinking it's the motor but it sounds like the motor is slipping against the regulator assembly.

I gotta get this sorted for an NCT and my own piece of mind. Anyone experienced this before?

I had a similar thing with my passenger side window when I got the car originally. Turned out to be a tooth gone in the cog wheel on the motor. Replaced the motor and it was fine.

Replacing is more awkward than anything, and the arm that lifts the window up and down is spring loaded so you gotta watch your fingers!

Cheers Kevin, I had a feeling the motor would have to be replaced.
How long did this take you? I'll have a look at the knowledgebase to check for a guide.

It's a few years back now but iirc I was at it for an hour or hour and a half. It's kinda awkward because it's inside the door and you can't always see where you are working, and being careful trying to mind your fingers.

There's a few guides on www.ftodiy.co.uk that show taking off the door panel, etc but none for the motor itself.

One for the electric window guides can be found here
