What are the nicest 17 inchers on an FTO?

Postby adrian » Wed Feb 13, 2008 12:10 pm

hey,

As I prepare for mew new and second term of FTO ownership I am wondering what people think are the nicest rims on an FTO. Photos appreciated. I love the rims on CJ's motor, but I might look at changing them in a while to mod the car to my taste... and so it begins!

I have seen some cracking 18 inchers, but I think best to stick to 17s! Always loved these:

When looking at wheels, its easy to choose style over substance - try and get a balance i.e. a rim with a lip is less likely to suffer damage on the wheel face, similar considerations for wheels with pronounced spokes etc.

If I where to change the rims, I'd most definetly go for a lightweight model (i.e. Rota, Buddy Club) in an effort to reduce the rotating mass. Most aftermarket rims and tyres end up weighing more than the standard combo, note that the weight of a rotating wheel is increased four-fold at speed.

I like!

Not available in the FTO stud pattern (5 x 114.3) by the looks of things....

EDIT: I tell a lie - they are available, always check the source!

Yup, well remembered.
They're 17 x 8 with 235 40 tyres.
I think they look well and the width helps the handling, also afaik they can be bought fairly cheaply through the EVO owners club in the UK.

I need to fix that at some point, you can get to your (or anyone elses) personal album via the profile.
