Ultra LED dashboard replacement

Postby Malci » Sun Jan 01, 2006 7:52 pm

I have bought some ultra LED`s for my dashboard (in blue). These come with resistor already installed and are suppoesed to be a straight replacement.
When connected to a 12v supply (car battery) they light up no problem, and even light up on a 9v supply, however when installed in the dash they do not work at all. I have tried just one with the existing bulbs in situe and all the old bulbs work but the LED doesn`t.

Where am I going wrong? Can anyone assist please

With LED's they will only work if the live is fed to the correct leg of the led. you should try reversing them around and see what happens.

Probably wired to run the bulbs in parallel. If the bulbs have a lower resistance then the LED with the build in resistor the bulbs would be robbing all the power and the LED will not get enough power to light. You need to replace all the bulbs with LEDs or just remove them to test it out.

Very strange this - the ultraled replacement haas been discussed on the UK site - and even on the ultra LED site it self somebody has left a comment about how brilliant the replacement LEDs are...
