what do you use?

Postby miss-enzo » Tue May 06, 2008 6:49 pm

Since the summer seems to be here now i reckon alot of people will be washing their cars alot more regularly!

so what products do you use? and how do you find them to use?

I get mine power washed where Lee works with Autosmart detergent, then its detarred with autosmart stuff, washed again and hot rinsed.

first few coats of wax are with autoglym radient polish no.12 and then if she still needs that little something extra she gets a coat of Autoglym High Definition polish, that stuff is UNREAL! had my car done on sat, Lee toook it to the lakes on sat night (drivin in the rain on crap roads) and she's still pretty shiney! all she'll need is a rinse down and she's good to go again!

The High Def wax is expensive (between 65 & 100yoyo) depending on where you go and who you know but its wortht the money, you get 2 application sponges and a polishing cloth with it. Lee has done 5 cars out of his pot and has only used about 1/4 of it.

however its not for the faint hearted, you have to leave it 20 mins to set and its a bit of a hard job to get if off but its totally worth it! my car has never looked so well!

if your just starting off in kciking ass at cleaning use washing up liquid to remove the previous wax

then start fresh

i use tripple wax car shampoo and wash mitt,
then once every month i use scratch out( bare minimal) to remove swirl marks.
i use then autoglym tar remover and give the whole car a going over.(once every 2 months clay bar the windows)
then i use meguires gold class car wax.
then a tripple wax polishing mitt
then top it off with a 2 coats of autoglym sealent to get out a nice shine

I use a mix of Autoglym (shampoo, super resin polish) and Poorboys World (SSR deswirling compound, carnuba wax) in conjunction with a Porter Cable random orbital polisher. My processhere.

Why do you clar bar the windows? Its designed for removing deep rooted dirt and surface contamination on paintwork....

I use a mix of stuff, depending on how much time I want to spend on it.

One thing that I would recommend is the Turtle Wax 'wax when wet'.

If you don't have the time to dry, then polish, wax etc - this spray on does a great job.

I always use Autoglym shampoo and wax, it's fantastic stuff. The occasional coat of T-Cut Colourfast does a fantastic job too.

I've given up on the Autoglym wheel cleaner though because it seemed to be gradually stripping the white paint from the alloys! The come clean with just a sponge, some suddy water and a bit of elbow grease anyway.

I'm another one for the Autoglym. Shampoo, Tar remover, super resin polish and car glass polish usually. Tried the extra gloss protection the last time too, great finish!

Poorboys World products are excellent but not widely avalaible. I especially rate the SSR swirl remover and carnuba wax.
