FTO back on the Quinn direct website

Postby Mustang » Mon Apr 25, 2005 9:44 am

Previously removed :x but now back on the list, with model descriptions DE3A (import) and DE2A (import), couldn't get a quote online though. :? "Online sytem is not able to quote,.....etc, etc. Please ring quoting xyz...reference no." Did not bother to ring, but maybe the ban has been lifted????

Interesting. Maybe someone with a renewal on the way could give them a call re. a quote?

Morning, i rang quinn direct, they would not quote me coz my age. :(
You need to be 25 or over and hold a full drivers licence. so i guess some one over 25 can call now and see how it goes.

Did you ask them why they have it listed on their site? I'm guessing that QD will cover the FTO in the UK but not Ireland...

Yes I did. All I got was we can't offer cover for that car. There are certain models which we do not cover and that is one of them. :x

Yea you could be right. They had updated the format since I was last on the site, and I guess updated the vehicle lists. But if they offer cover in the UK why not in Eire?

Perhaps, but I couldn't see them making special 'exceptions' like this e.g. 1.8 only, lady drivers over 25 only, etc, etc.
More likely down to the usual QD inconsistency, I'd say they just spinning you a line! Or maybe they were spinning me a line :?

How long have you had the FTO? How long have you had the QD policy.
They officially stopped taking in new FTO business about a year and half ago :x Did you have your foot in the door before then, or did you manage to break them down

Hi Mustang,

I only got the car last friday and insured it last monday!
I'm only driving cars a year as i've been driving bikes for years now.
I was refused initially due to my age so i wrote a letter into Quinn Directs underwriters and basically advised that refusing to quote me based on my age was discrimination based on ageism etc etc etc Act of Equality 2000 - 2004. They quickly called me up and quoted me on any car that they accept quotes from the public!!

BTW where should i post query regarding Air conditioning on fto?

Cheers

Nice one. They all seem to buckle once you push them enough -another victory for the consumer.
However the issue did not seem to be about age...I'm 27, 4yrs NCB and they wouldnot quote based on the car (not the driver).
In any case good result.

BTW where should i post query regarding Air conditioning on fto?

Technical quiries forum.

Is that a manual GPvR? What year?

I guess i got lucky!!
Some insurance companies make you feel like they are pulling quotes from a hat!! It's a lucky dip :)

Yeh its a rare gpvr manual. black / red interior / white alloys. Pretty happy.
Had to get two new shocks for it though as the aftermarket coil over shocks were bust.. they were sweet though. I find the replacement standard gpvr's to be quite twitchy to say the least but very smooth.

Nice car - I quite like the alloys - the white is a good contrast to the black car. I have white alloys on a silver FTO and IMO they look well though I am considering getting them powder coated black.

How are you finding the manual mivec to drive?

Fair play to you - I would have given my right arm for an FTO when I was 24.

When you say it's fully loaded what do you mean - aren't all FTO's 'fully loaded' ?

Not necessarly, there were so many factory options that its difficult to get an FTO with every conceivable extra. The GPX has the highest spec in terms of 'extras' off the factory floor but you could have speced your GR up the same level if you so wished. The GPvR Aero series (which is what Russman has bought by the looks of things) lacks climate control but thats a small price to pay for HIDs, an LSD, sports suspension and a strut brace as standard.
