facelift front bumper

Postby karlf » Thu Feb 05, 2009 12:31 am

Does anyone have 1 for sale? If so could you pm me a price. Its just an idea at the mo but considering putting one on if I get a new car thats pre 97. I've not seen a lot of bumpers but from what I've seen I still like the facelift best.

Cheers for that it's definately an option. Birmingham is a fair bit away from where I'm going. Judging roughly by using google maps its a bit further than Dublin to Cork. But I could use it as an excuse to spend the night.
I reckon I could ask the guy who's car I'm looking at could I deliver it to him and pick it up when I go over. :!: :!: Guess I better decide quickly if I want it definately. The car I'm viewing has a prefacelift aftermarket one on already decisions decisions!

a facelift bumper will set you back 2-3 hundred yoyos.
consider that there are fogs and clear indicators to be fitted for a proper job.

respray and fitting are a few bob as well .

woulod you be happy to spend near 5 hundred for that ?

Well the car I might be buying has an after market bumper on it. Topcat says its a HKS one. Was thinking if I sold that (if I buy the car that is) that I'd recoup some of the expense. I read a "how to" on changing to facelift bumper sometime ago and I'l do the fitting of lights and the bumper myself with the help of my bro-in-law. One of the lads would do the spraying for about €50. And the link above has one on e-bay for £150. Depending on what the HKS one is worth (prefacelift) I might get one. Its just an idea at the mo.

Karl, you'll have to post a link to the car in question before we can tell you its a HKS Kansai or not, you only have Topcats word to go on ;)

Be warned: the one on ebay is fibreglass, its no substitute for an OEM plastic bumper in terms of durability and fit.

Hard to tell, FG copies often don't fit perfectly and need work in places. I'd be more worried about cracking the thing, the plastic bumpers can take a lot more stick.

having replaced a face lift bumper, just my 2 cents lads... I wouldn't go for a fibre glass. Get a plastic OEM one. 100% a better fit, and won't crack or damage like the FG one will... I got mine in Dungannan OEM part. next day they couriered down to me.

Its this front bumper on the one I'm looking at. I still think the facelit one is nicer. But I'l have to decide €500 is a bit much plus the fitting. Might look at getting another aftermarket one as I'm not mad on this one. Anyone recommend any? I'm not into anything OTT or too low, something nice and subtle, in the facelift version. I've seen the BOSS (I think thats what its called, has a really big mesh bit on it), Veileside and not a fan. I'd have to buy the indicator and parking light as well to do this is there anywhere you can get them?
**EDIT**
I also have a set of side skirts I got off Maud a while back think they are JDL if I remember correctly. This might make a difference to what you'll recommend as they mightn't look right mixing two kits together.

Cheers TopCat.
Had a look and still nothing taking my fancy. Is there other brands available. So far I've seen:Hiro, HKS, BOZZ, Veilside, Topmix (front lip only), DCautro,Creative, Pro shop IIDA.

Budget 6-800 euro for a proper branded aftermarket bumper to include purchase, spraying and fitting.

I really like the HKS Kansai bumper, I think its looks a lot less agressive than some of the other opions. I say keep it. This one needs a small bit of touch up to make it perfect:

That is exactly what I'm looking for and says it a lot better than the way I put it
I'm not into anything OTT or too low

I just think its very similar to the original. I've seen the Topmix front lip, could I fit that to the HKS bumper? I think that that would take away from the fact it looks so similar to the original. But I still like the look of a seperate indicator and parking light.
What to do?? :smt017 This best describes how I'm feeling at the minute. Or better yet this one says it perfectly :smt021

I don't think the Topmix lip will fit onto the HKS one..also it would probably look slightly mismatched cause they're quite different stylewise as far as I remember.

Get the car first!

In all seroiusness, I'd wait til you get the car first, get her all sorted mechanically (bushes, good service etc.) and then see what kinda budget you've left. It might narrow down your choices. Plus, you might grow to like the look of it in that time either.

And, after all that, if you still want change the HKS, you know you have a potential buyer..

Oh, I nearly forgot, there's one I personally really like the look of, but it might be too low to live with on a day-to-day basis..

Its a Bozz Phase 1. This particular one was for sale by a member on FTOOC, but I think its gone now, and I afraid I don't know where you could get one again.

Thats good advice. Sure I haven't even bought the car yet. The guy said bushes, timing belt, tappets were all done. Thats one of the reasons I am interested in it, and myself and the sisters fella do the servicing so that will only cost the price of the parts (and one or two nights babysitting service). It is all about budget, after all its not the best time to be spend money on non-essential purchases.
I think if that the same bumper was available in the face lift version I'd definately get it. Does anyone know if it is available?

The top one is nice, dont like the spots in the grill though they are too big. And the grill covering the hole where the lights go in the bottom one is just wrong. (IMHO)
