Operation Go-Slow in full swing

Postby gtoirl » Wed Nov 30, 2005 12:31 pm

Came down onto the N3 today and thought cool, doesn’t look too bad, although it was about 10:00 I have seen it look a lot worse at this time.

But when I got into town :smt120 man, what’s the story!!!

Well thats what the title says (kinda ;))

I was talking to a guard about it the other day, he reckons its a big waste of time, lads could be better utilised in other areas etc. I've seen a couple of guards knocking around junctions (off-peak) over the past few days scratching their ball licks with a look of despondency on their faces, its difficult being told to do something by your superiors when you know its going to make little difference to the situation.

Last year it took about a week before the guards at the N4/M50 roundabout learned that they had to synchronise their actions. That meant a week of really mesed up traffic and then a week or two of improved travel.

It's been bad for the last few days so I presume that they're going through the learning phase again!

Would it not be better to just change the sequence of the lights?

Although most of the guards I've seen just wave people on when the light is green and tell them to stop when it goes red. I think the main point is to stop all the amber gamblers-blocking up the junctions.
