naw brakes and spring set

Postby DirtyLopez » Tue Apr 24, 2007 9:06 pm

Hi all
I just need a little advise...
I intend to change brakes and lower my car and if you could tell me what should I buy except springs and brake discs and pads of course?
Maybe some bushes/rubbers can/should be changed in occasion as well?

BTW i`ve chosen an Apex lowering kit from Camskill, Black Diamond Combi Discs and EBC Green Stuf from Hostile Perf.

Thanks

Probably best to stick the FTO up on a ramp and examine the condition of existing bushes - if the front and rear Anti Roll bar bushes have not been done previously its almost certain they could do with being replaced (pref Poly Bushes). Similar story for front and rear droplinks - shortened preferably as you'll be lowering your car (Camskill sell these).

Theres quite a list I could go into - I'd personally change the dampers to KYB's as well - they are very reasonable and a nice upgrade to tired old FTO OE spec - http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php? ... b0s585p416

May be a good idea to do a search on suspension and then make up your own mind - I think its a very good area of the FTO to mod - I previously changed front and rear ARB bushes (Poly) , F & R droplinks, KYB Dampers and Apex springs, All remaining bushes changed including increased castor poly bushes on the front arms and also fitted a front and rear strut brace. Spent a few quid (less than a grand though) but it felt like a different car.

Also as you're changing the Discs now would be a good time to consider some braided brake hoses.

 Yep... you right I have to consider the dumpers... It`d be cheaper and easier to change it at one time

Front strutbrace... yes... I`d like to buy it but its out of stock everywhere, actually there is one on eBay at the moment but I really dont know what to think about it... dont like it at all and is blue. I`d prefer red one or silver according to the project in my head

Thanks for an advise about the bushes.
