KMC Dial kit and conversion

Postby Syn » Fri Sep 19, 2008 4:24 pm

I must really be annoying people with all my questions now lol. But i do search for answers on the forum 1st honestly!!

Right i wana get the dial kit, can someone tell me, is the one in this picture the 2006 or 2007 dial kit?

http://www.fto-ireland.com/forum/phpBB2 ... dash+bulbs

And if its the 2006, is the 07 one much different, as i love this one but the picture on ftooc of the 07 one isnt very good and it looks naff. And im getting blue led dash bulbs, will i still need these after getting the kit or does it change the original bulbs into blue?

ALSO... my cars been derestricted as ive taken it over 120mph and it doesnt come back down, obviously on a track lol, the dial reads in MPH but only up to 110 and the kmc ones go to 180 which is what i want.So...can i get a different chip to make the needle work properly for a dial going to 180mph WITHOUT it converting the odometer into reading miles from now on.

The reason for this is i hate the idea of it having done 67,000 miles which its on now (but reading in KM) and then clocking up miles instead, its a pain having half in km and half in miles if u understand?

re: the speedo

You have a different dial face fitted to your speedometer. it would appear that your delimiter is still intact, you just haven't gone fast enough to trigger it yet.

In order to make the KMC dials work properly, you need to fit a conversion chip (available from camskill) this fools the speedo unit into thinking you're going slower than you actually are, therefore the limit would be 180mph.

With the chip in, the odometer won't automatically convert the odometer reading already on the car, it will just add any subsequent kilometres to the car at a rate of around 62% of the actual kilometres put on.
