I would be surprised if it's 'chipped' - it's pretty commonly known that there are no easy or discernable bhp increases to be had by chipping a standard FTO engine.

No idea how it's done though.

thats why i didnt want to argue with him but i think manufactorers set the ecu for better fuel economy so there may be a of fettling to be had from the ecu

The ECU is located on the LHS of the passenger footwell, remove the plastic cover to check if its been 'piggybacked' or otherwise.

No point in "chipping" the FTO unless its had considerable mods already.
Kinda reminds me of a guy I approached in a GR Tip FTO a few years back and when he claimed to have 300bhp - I asked how he had managed it without any descernible mods and he replied that "he had it chipped"!
Tried my best to keep a straight face and I didn't even bother pulling him on it - it was just too ridiculous.

The guy may have been genuine Shane. I took the chip out of my play station 2 and stuck it to the engine on the fto. I must be getting at least 400bhp. That doubles when I turn on the flux capacitor and time capsule my a$$ to 2222 and we are still in the IMF EU program and Dublin has been renamed Dutgart and the prime minister is Adolf Heidler.
