Headlight Modification

Postby StewyD32 » Fri Oct 21, 2011 9:40 pm

Im replacing my headlights as there is a bracket broken and a bit of pealing.
The new set I have aren't the best either so I'm going to swap and change bits around so i'll have to oven bake.

Whilst their in pieces (literally) it will be a perfect time to do a bit of modding.
What is actually out there to do????
I've been looking around and there isn't much apart from spraying the inset of it, which I have yet to still see a picture of the finished product.
There is also angel lights but can't find anyone selling them for an FTO.

Is there anything out there I can do??
Any ideas or suggestions welcome

Unless you tint them from the inside there really isn't much else you could or would want to do to headlights. They're a pretty vital part of a car and the less done to effect them or the beam the better. Personally I don't like angel lights, they were intended for BMW's and there they should stay, thats my opinion though, obviously some people like them and thats fine. Regarding the spraying of the inset piece JohnK's blue one had them done and I liked it, I think it looks well and its not something that a lot of people have, its also not expensive. You're car is grey so silver would suit it, I was considering doing mine in white as I've seen that done too in pics and it sort of gives a bit of a look of the GTO lights about it. Suppose the other thing you could do is give them a going over with compound and polish on the inside surface of the lense, just to get rid of any discolouration or effect that the heat of the lamps might have had on it.

Didn't know johns car had that done. Might do a search of his car and spot them.
I'm being told to sticker bomb the inset on another club or put goldfish in the like a guy did in Japfest lol.

I wouldn't personally change the inset colour to bodycolour Stewy cause you've already got a black and silver theme going on. I'd be more inclined to put either angel eyes (one set) around the dims (they can look well if done right) or otherwise some discreet DRL's (LED's) running along the bottom of the glass.

Chrome ring round the dipped beam would be nice.

+1
It's just the stupid kit/mirrors I don't like.
The colour is nice enough, as are the wheels and interior retrim.

Spacers wouldn't work on the back, would have to raise it.
There must be a good shine off those beams though, I'd consider doing that except when the lights are off it would look pure tacky. Would only do it for practicality reasons.
