On Saturday, I stopped a member of our esteemed police force and asked him what was the scenario while waiting on plates and driving without. My belief was that I had a period of grace on the issue and he said that this was the case. I had my ten year old with me. Fifteen minutes later, he stops me in a different part of Kilkenny and he proceeds to tell me that he is confiscating my fto on the basis that HE does not believe I have it insured, (which it was for at least 6 hours before leaving Dublin on Friday). As I am with a small insurer, who do not open 24/7, I had to wait until Monday to reclaim MY fto. But all you foreign nationals out there with yout LT and LV and PL plates, don't worry about anything. For the police to stop you, you must have insurance, paid VRT in Ireland before you get a plonker in a blue uniform to confiscate your car Would appreciate feedback guys and gals
