Doing her up - Am I Mad!

Postby JD » Sun Jul 08, 2007 4:00 pm

Hi all,

I'm thinking of putting a few bob into the fto next month (respray, new alloys, shocks, lower springs, bit of work on the engine and the interior etc.) I just want to get her as close to new again as I can - not going for too much of a modified look. I already have a new front bumper in the shed, and I'm trying to get my hands on a new rear bumper, just to have it new, (any ideas where I might get one that doesn't cost the earth?). I'd get Paul to do all the mechanical work but I want to get a good spray job done, the original colour with a small bit of extra metalic bling to it (anyone know a good sprayer that will also sort out the shoping trolly dents etc. :D)

I have about 6 grand spare to spend on her.

OR

Should I sell her (for 5 grand 'ish), and put the 6 to it and buy a newer model in great nick for 11 ????? Mind you they seem to be impossible to sell these days! :?

It's a '95 GR but has a great engine I really have no trouble with her at all.

What do you think?

You could buy a newer model, but maybe you'd still want to do those things to it - lowering, new alloys, bling up the interior, etc?

I'd prob go for spending the money on the car you have, but its down to you - would you prefer a newer version of the same thing or would you prefer to freshen it up a bit? If its standard its going to be very like what you have now except for the front bumper of course. Apart from the seat trim I don't think there is any difference in the facelifts on the inside?

Cheers guys,

I'm leaning towards doing her up, she a great car and I also want to do something a little different with the bodywork that I'm still mulling around in my head. The interior is already pretty nice so only a little bit to do there.

Let the project begin!! I'll let you know how she turns out in about eight or nine weeks.
