Angie, Search the forum for the diagnostic procedure.
It's easy, only takes a couple of minutes and should give you an idea of what's wrong.

Don't think there is any connection between your indicators not working and your Tip box not working. Do all other electrics work fine (windows/stereo/lights etc). Does the FTO start and sound ok? What gear is it stuck in? A bit more info will help narrow down your issue.

Angie, welcome to the forums. The problem is likely to be one of two things - either a sensor(s) in the gearbox needs replacing or the torque converter in the box has had its day. If its sensors, a diagnostic check as per Bernard will show it up. Check the colour of the transmission fluid, if its very dark (i.e. black) then its a sign of toque converter failure. Healthy fluid is red, old / boiled fluid is brown. This check isn't definitive but may help in the diagnosis. A bust torque convertor almost always ends up in the owner replacing the gearbox, the work required to replace the TC simply isn't worth it.
