You'll need a fully mapable ECU, bigger injectors and rubber sections of the fuel lines will need to be replaced, other than that, I don't have any specific info on an FTO conversion. Worth reading up here:

Was reading up on it a bit yesterday, some say any car from 1990 forwards won't need modifications to fuel lines and that E85 isn't as corrosive as people make out. The guys in Saab say the Biopower models have different fuel lines. The only reason I'd use E85 would be more power. may start adding a few litres to each tank and see how that goes.

Bear in mind that it runs quite a bit leaner than E5 i.e. increased chance of detonation. Theres a guy on the IR forum with an E85 converted 200SX, he gets more power (after a full remap) but fuel consumption has dropped.

A few litres added to to tank won't make any difference either way...

I reckon fuel consumption would go up 20%, and the savings made wouldn't be big enough, would be more interested in the possibility of extra power. That said, there are probably better routes to go down if it's gonna involve injectors, fuel lines, ECU etc.

The biggest problem with E85 would be the availability at present!

An ecu remap would be a must to run e85. Practical performance car magazine's resident rolling road guru Dave Walker converted his own Porsche 924 to run on it with some success. then again his company does develop and produce their own ecu's by the name of Emerald. E85 aint a quick fix.

I have one of those conversion kits sitting in a box at home... when I bought it petrol prices dropped, so there was no point fitting it..

now that they've gone up..I might be giving it a whirl... Biggest problem is availability of the stuff..

A lot of guys run an ECU with selectable maps (i.e. one for E85 and one for standard unleaded).

I was actually looking at a couple of ems/ecu boxes there just last night..It seems a fairly common feature now-a-days.

The trick with running fixed maps tho must be to run the tank very very close to empty if you have to switch fuel type..

you need,
bigger injectors,
braided fuel lines,
Fuel pressure regulator,
and a piggyback ECU, (APEXI NEO would do)
