May Have to Sell Him :(

Postby agent s » Wed Oct 05, 2005 12:03 pm

Didn't think I was ever going to have to do this... :smt089

Anyone got any suggestions as to how much I should sell my beloved FTO for? I have been thinking lately that the insurance is just far too high for someone like me to keep up & it would make my life a lot easier if I wasn't paying so much monthly. First time in my life I'm trying to be a bit practical  Soooo upset. I'll have to get another years driving under my belt I think.

Anyway, I've no idea what should be my asking price (seeing as how people ask for anything & everything!). Here are the stats:

- Pretty much as standard as they come
- GR manual (V6 etc...)
- About 85k kilometres, I think (I haven't put that many on)
- Did bang the front & it damaged the paintwork so it would need a respray :( No damage done to headlights etc tho & bumper not cracked
- Just had it serviced by Paul Nolan who said it was in excellent condition
- €1000 worth of Clifford Alarm installed with Anti Hi-Jack system

Don't know what else to write. :smt100

a sad day

It would be sad to lose an FTO owner :( Try O'Driscoll and O'Neill brokers they did a special deal on my insurance.
You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen, it said 'Parking Fine'.

Policy expires in May & I've one year. I've only had my full licence for a year now too. Don't think any insurance company is going to be able to offer me the 80 squids a month I was paying for my 1.4 Civic

Well my philosophy is better to have loved and lost then never to have loved at all!
Perhaps if you sold a few more of those "alternative lifestyle" accessories you'd be able to meet the insurance payments.
Must be steep insurance :smt119

Sorry to hear that agent s.

I thought it was a GR too, same as mine? 2L?

Manual, recent service and 1000 quid alarm are big pluses... the only thing going against it is the damage on the front... any pics?

Kev.

Thats a lot for insuring a lady driver - 3rd party I presume?
Maybe a bit of shopping around might get you much better quotes - alternatively see if you can insure it under one of your parents?

Ouch! The FTO may have low depreciation but hard to justify that sort of outlay on insurance.
The combination of your age, driving experience and hugely over rated car (FTO), are really giving a snow ball effect on the cost!
I'd be interested to hear any comparitive quotes you might have gotten on similar(ish) cars, teg R, MR2, 200SX???

Have you tried every insurance company for quotes - that seems like a huge amount for a lady driver.....

I can't get over that iunsurance quote. I reckon that you have to get it cheaper somewhere. I'm paying 2300 ish and i've less experience than you... less time with a full license and i havn't got boobs... Can anyone advise here on a specific insurance company to try out?
