in car dvd player

Postby djabie » Tue Mar 04, 2008 7:08 pm

hi
Does anyone have a dvd/ tv player in there car.
If so can anyone recommend a good aerial for it.
something that doesnt look out of place on the fto,s curves.
The one i got with mine is a pair of rabbit ears and i wouldnt put it near my pride and joy.
Maybe someone knows can ya get an inside aerial for it and what the reception be like.
Cheers in advance for any replys

The TV in the VR-4 uses aerials the are built into a clear adhesive strip, this sticks to the rear window and is practically unnoticeable (the TV of course doesn't work, wonder can you get a band expander for a Jap TV?!).

You should be able to pick these up somewhere, search the web, ebay etc.

I didn't install mine - it came with these massive big long plastic rods..

I decided not to watch TV in the car - and I've stuck to dvds :-)

Who wants irish channels in the car anyway? You'd need a satellite dish installed on the roof to pick up anything decent and that would seriously affect aerodynamics!

These were in my boot when I bought the car.
As far as I know  they're TV aerials that attach to either side of the rear windscreen.

I don't know if they'd work here or not...

Mine is a double din - got it of ebay as well - very easy to fit - all wires are labeled in english.

Brackets fit super fine.

Didn't even need a band expander.

which one did you get?

Some DVD head units that I have fitted have a hand brake sensor. This is so the screen will only play DVDs while car is stationary. If there is one on your new head unit just connect the hand brake wire to your earth wire and hey presto, DVD on the move!

Yeah i thought it was a good price.
Some of them are going for crazy money on fleabay.
but with patience and being able to bid till the early hour of the morning you will always get a bargin.
the double din unit is the only way to go in the fto.
i have tried every type of cd player and blanking plates but nothing looked right in the center consel.
Anyway im happy on to the next mod.
still trying to find a chrome or alloy gear surround and a gear shift.
Rb performance are sold out.
so i will keep on searching.......
