Great start to spring!!

Postby Dave » Mon Feb 02, 2009 12:58 pm

Traction control was firmly on this morning!!!!!

I'm not looking forward to the drive home, the N7 is a nightmare by all accounts!

Doesn't help the fact that with in excess of 300bhp and rwd!!

Took me 50 minutes to get from my gaff on the Sallins Road in Naas to where I work on the Dublin Road (200m from the big ball) - roughly 2 miles.

20 minutes of that was spent getting out of the estate.

It's bad down around Naas/Newbridge direction, I had a good bit of fun this morning, even doing 35 on the N7 after Kill and the rear end tried to step out, it's dangerous out there!

I had a fella hit me today. I was about 30secs. out of my house, hadn't even got out of my estate. It wasn't his fault the guy behind hit him and pushed him out of a t-junction just as I passed. I was driving my mams focus (as my FTO was robbed), they look to have done very little damage though. They hit the pass. side back wheel and there is a slight scratch on the bumper. Nothing too noticeable but I'l get it checked out none the less, just to make sure there is no underlying damage.
I just cant understand people though. The guy who caused it all was about 10secs out of his house and obviously wasn't driving to suit the conditions. How stupid can you be.

Most Irish people have no concept of how to drive in winter conditions (some might argue that most Irish people have no concept of how to drive full stop).

4WD does make it a bit less troublesome though.

Took me over an hour to drive the 6 kms from work to home this evening, Blanchardstown is bananas at the minute.

What irks me is theres been no sign of the council gritters despite the fact that the current weather conditions have been forcast for a couple of days now.

There's a small hill in front of my place and just looking out at some drivers, nearly every last one of them took it too fast, braked hard, ended up locking up and three or four within a half hour ended up skidding straight out onto the middle of the road!!!!

Sure if wasn't for bad luck I'd have none a all  . I'm just worried now becase they say these things come in threes. What's coming next???? I better be extra careful with buying the new one, if my current (un)lucky streak continues it'l probably blow up
Well the guy hit the wheel bar a minor scratch to the back bumper. Had a guy look at it and he said its ok. Will take it to a proper garage when I've more time to get it checked properly.

Mental this morning.. I saw a good few peeps struggle to stay going straight on the n2 this morning..

4wd DEFINATELY works . and the ayc/traction control is freaking awesome..

1. you get flashing lights - and they're good
2. you get to stay on the black stuff even when you test for traction..

the backroads home Dublin 18.. argh.. the FTO did a great job... nic ebit of weight over the front axle helps keep things secure... I got stuck for a long time behind every single merc and BMW on the road.
they could not even handle a 10 degree incline... no weight over the drive wheels, but possibly the drivers have never driven in snow before and were giving it socks, and maybe tyres were bad. but that was the majority of delays.. RWD german cars.
