Postby TAF » Sat Feb 28, 2004 10:19 pm

Hello people,

Just a quick one. Been told that my heater matrix is leaking therefore managed to get hold of a second hand one. To install it i think i need to remove the whole dashboard. Does anyone know how i could go about doin this and if its an easy or difficult job. Appreciated.

P.s You guys are doin a brilliant job with this forum.

Taf,

I have done this job myself about a year and a half ago when i did it no one really knew what to do so i contacted giles at japco and got info of him. Bascially the best way to do it is to remove the entire dash to get at it, if doing the task on your own and it will take 2/3 days to do. or as howard turner has done, he got someone to help him there a few weeks back (check the j.cars forum) and went at it through the glove box, the help is required to pull the 3 boxes apart in behind the dash and keep them apart for the removal and fitting of the matrix, you won't be able to do it this way on you own, as i said check the j.cars forum and since you live in england if you ask him nicely  he might give you a hand.

You should try and get the heater tested, the last thing you want is to spend time fitting it, and it to leak again.

Three days! It took me three hours to do it last week!

I've promised a write up on it for the ftooc but I'll forward it to this forum as well. It really is a piece of pi55 but you do need to drain your aircon as well as the cooler bit has to come out.

Ah, I've asked if I could copy your write up. Did you do one for the FTOOC, I must have missed it if you did.
