I looked into it before, would have been handy for carting band gear around, and it was pretty expensive. Main problem I had was not having a no claims to put towards it, i.e. I couldn't use my no claims on my FTO to bring down the van insurance, so it was starting from scratch.

Is it not possible to use your no claims from your fto? if you sold it
Because its commercial is it?

Well I wanted to have the van as a second vehicle, selling the FTO was never an option, and your no claims can only go towards one policy. Thus, I couldn't use it for the van policy.
If I sold the FTO then yes I think I would have used the no claims alright.

Not sure about the no claims craic because it was my first car really. My dad is a painter and decorator so I just put that down as my occupation. I wasn't really working with him but if anything happened I would just say I worked with him part time. Just do that say you're a part-time painter or something.

You might be better off going to FBD, they seem quite reasonable in such matters. I believe the commercial vehicle insurance can be much easier if you are over 30.
