Mini Disc Player problems

hey guys im having problems with my MD player in my fto its a mitsubishi model MD-9540C
slot 3 is flashing red and the screen says 'Err' and it wont let me play any md's in slot 1,2 or 4
can anyone help me please

Hi nataliei and welcome to the forums.

How did the problem start, was it all of a sudden or was the fault intermittant to begin with? Did a disk get jamed in the unit prior to it malfunctioning?

I had this issue previously in my FTO which came in with a high end 12 CD / Sat Nav / TV / Amp OE Mitsubishi system and I took the CD changer apart and found it was really just wear and tear on the changer components. I guess I can't expect a system that came on car that was manufactured in 95 to last indefinetly. I reoiled and free'd up the bits and bobs and it helped for a while but tbh it really just needed changing.

I don't think there is going to be a particularly easy fix here - you could try taking apart the changer and examining the changer components for wear.

Ahh yes i had this issue, this is the unit that holds the 4 mini-discs in the head unit not a changer isn't it,(standard mitisi head unit) (had a weird name which i can't remember now, but upon checking it was a company owned by panasonic)

If i'm right the issue is with the springs on the loader system and and the inbuilt dampers i tried to get mine reconditioned ya know springs replaced ect, but it only lasted for about 4-6 months,

My advise is save yourself the time and money and bin it and upgrade yourself to a new aftermarket headunit like some of these better known makes

hey it happened all of a sudden. the day before yesterday it was fine and i was playing the disc 3, i left it in there over night (off) then in the morning it wasnt working
ive only had the car for 2 weeks so i dont know if there were any prior problems but the girl before me never used the mini disc player.
the disc kinda gets jammed a lil but i can always get it out and it seems to be going in there on a lil angle
i guess ill have to take it apart and check for wear and tear...but im not good at that stuff !
yes it is the standard as far as im aware, with 4 slots
i dont even have a manual for it and when i looked on the net for one it all came up in japanese ..not helpful for me
i live in australia and MDs arent used widely, no one even knows what they are most of the time

Yep exactly what went wrong with mine, i really wouldn't bother taking it apart and tying to fix it, i'd go for a new one like the links above, i still can't remember the name of mine it either started with an A or an S thats about as much as i can remember but then again it was 9 years ago.
