Needing to vent....

Postby mcgon1979 » Wed Jul 18, 2007 7:20 am

Where does on begin.... Basically I left the gaf this morning at 620ish. Tipping along and I see this car come up rather fast behind me (still in the estate!!) so I continue to tip along at moderate estate speed 40 - 50kph. anyway, this guy is a bit close to my back bumper for my liking. Would you believe it, its a hundai coupe. the new shape. He has the sunroof open on tolt, the fog lights on and is obviously DUNGlighted with himself. Good for him I think. I continue as normal. This guy is stuck up my butt for about 2km even though I am doing slightly over the speed limit on all strecths of road and could certainly not be judged to be slow driving. I get the impression, regardless of what speed I do he will want to be 1metre from my bumper because he is in a super car. Yeah ok, I said it. WTF is wrong with these people. Why why why god do idiots feel the need to prove something about their cars... Heres a hint for the coupe drivers, if someone is driving an FTO they obviously are a car fan. Your not going to impress or wow them by driving up their ar s e in you korean scrap heap. ARGHHH... Makes me so angry. I tried to ignore this fella but inevitably the road became a 2 lanes and I pulled into the buslane to let him shoot by in his supercar. btw it was only a buslane from 7am onwards so its all good as its before 7 at this stage. Anyway, the coupe driver flies down the outside lane till he is level with me. DUNGlighted with himself. I have ZERO interest in racing or showboating or any of that sh1te. I'm still half asleep, car is still probably not fully up to operating temp, and I have no time for this sh1t on the best of days. the guy waits till the last minute and accelrates and pulls in right in front of me just before his left turn. He brakes heavily forcing me to brake very heavily. I'm so angry now I want to follow the guy and smash his car with something heavy. :( I know, not good. mild road rage. But I don't know why certain people feel the need to prove something like this. so he got in ahead of me. WAHOO! what a fcuking hero. It's not worth causing a potentially dangerous situation and forcing heavy braking. I try never ever to brand people. I really do. Branding or stereo typing is for lazy people. but... increasingly I have to say it, new shape hyundai drivers are ignorant fcuking wanna be ferrari driving a$$holes. And there is 1000000000s of them now. They must be giving away new shape coupes somewhere? everytime some sh1t like this happens, I want to put the next coupe dirver I see, back in his box. Let him know he is driving a scrap heap from a 39 year old auto company whose chairman was sentenced to prison last year for corruption and embezzlement. ARGH! God damn it. Lose the attitude hyundai oupe owners. Actually, maybe there is a forum for hyundai owners that I can go and flame. See what they have to say about it. I thought I was being harsh at first, but th more I encounter hyundai drivers the mroe I realise they all fit a certain profile. They want the image of a sports car (cheaply) and know nothing at all about cars. the oly hyundai drivers that seem ok are the women in their 30s. no attitude problems there. They obviously like the car image but thats it. They are not out to prove something.
ok ok I'll stop now. Take a few breaths. They should just get themselves an AMG tuned Merc if they want to act the part of "successful, fast living, 30s, professional, next CEO" type sh1t. It reminds me of the Porsche boxter owners who used to have a go at me in my last car just cause it had black rims. Same profile as the coupe drivers, but at least they have the badge behind them....

I know man. sorry to bore you all. just had to get it off my chest. the analogy I added at the end of OP just now makes them ost sense to me. The coupe drivers are identical to the porsche boxter drivers. Think they are in a 911, out to prove something aswell. At least the Porsche drivers can get a good bit out of saying "yeah, yeah, I drive a porsche". "yep, I drive a hyundai" doesn't exactly sound synonymous with the trappings of wealth and power. argh, I wanna punch one.

Jesus..

Sadly I understand where you're coming from.. when I get somebody like that behind me I tend to slow to snails pace and then just smile and wave as they pass..
Although it rarely happens..

There was an incident recently where I obviously really annoyed a fella in Qasqai (sp?) I'm guessing he was trying to prove tht he was a man even if he was driving a girly car (NOI!)..He did the backside driving thing..I slowed down - at this stage he was practially on top of my rearbumper so -I stopped the car. Looked in my mirror. Guy was obviosly in a fit of rage - arms flailing wildly - two fingers - I wave in the mirror ..fists shaking at me now..his seat belt comes off -his door opens

..what the right thing to do now?

As his body was leaning out the door - I put the fto in 1st and calmly drove off down the road.. Leaving him to look the absolute plonker. I cannot image why this bloke was so upset - he clearly wasn't in a hurry to get somewhere or he would simply have passed.
He must have found my driving to be extremely provocative and for once I was driving below the speed limit - the road I was on goes through a village and there are always kids getting picked up by the school bus so it's definately a no speeding zone.

What makes this even better is the fact the I regularly spot this guy in the village so he's obviously local.

Ah well..

absolutely great story Maud!!!! terrific. I love the way you "calmly drove off" when he opened his door. So much more effective then ripping off down the road. LOL

All I could do was laugh and shake my head - somebody obviosly ruined his brekkie earlier that morning..

Generally though I do suffer from road-rage, but I can be very mild mannered as well.. bi-polar? ;-)

Got that once from a Coupe

Don't even think about racing or show boating etc.

Just slow down to 20mph and they soon get pissed off and leave you alone.

I like my cars too much to break test them

Muad, hate to say it, and respect, but I would've tore off like a knacker and left tyre smoke in his mouth....

Yes normally I would too - but for some reason I was feeling uncharactaristically mild mannered that particular morning.. Normally I don't have the energy to be nice before I've had my morning coffee..

Mind you - If I had done the wheelspinning tyresmoking thing I'd prolly either have had a blowout or gotten pulled over around the corner.. I'm generally unlucky when it comes to these things :-)
