Hello,not an FTO owner tho'

Postby karnevil » Thu May 06, 2010 1:41 pm

Hello all.I'm Andy from Shotton In North Wales.I don't own an FTO and a bit rude I know but I am just trying to find some info about a Racelogic VSAM unit.
I have a Proton Satria GTI,sometimes we use FTO bits and pieces on them as they are baically Mitsubishi.Currently I have FTO GPX twin pots fitted although I am fitting GTO fourpots to it!! They do fit, maybe my method will help you fit them to your FTO's too.
Anyhow hello and I will post the Racelogic question elsewhere.
Thanks Andy.

Welcome Andy - those Satira GTI's where very underrated cars - excellent handling though a little underpowered. Is there anything you can do to get more out of them?

Hi Andy :wel

The Recaros in those Protons seem to match up well with the GR rear seats (the black pattern is the same)

Was thinking of going trying route but I'll probably go with the leatherette, would be interesting to see if the rails were the same as the FTOs though.
Has anyone you know put FTO seats into a Proton?

Not sure if I've ever seen a Proton here! Anymore Pics?
Get out of here Nebulon! No one likes your style...

Well the Satira was heavily based on the Mitsubishi Colt so theres bound to be some FTO parts that could would out ok on the Satira.

Saw a load of these in Kuala Lumpar in Malaysia - theres even a good few in the UK. Never seen them on Irish roads - not sure they ever even sold here tbh.

Suspension tuned by Lotus (Proton have a majority stake in Lotus) and handling was raved about at the time - I'm sure a FTO Mivec engine in there would liven things up considerably.

Proton were never sold here, from memory the lada dealers in the uk sold the protons when the Riva was pulled from the market. There's a yellow satria going around ennis and ive seen a few proton compacts. Youd really have to be looking to spot the difference between a compact and colt.

Hi and thanks for the welcome.I think the coupe is more popular in Ireland and we do have a few Irish members, actually the club founder and Chairman is Irish.
I believe it is possible to put the Mivec head onto our engine.4G93,but only from the 1800's is it?A few of the parts are interchangeable I know some people have fitted FTO swingrms and hubs to get the 5 stud wheel options. And the twinpot calipers from the GPX are a direct swop. These are what I had up untill the weekend, but now I have GTO 4 pots.Yes GTO 4 POTS!So if they fit the Proton they will most definatley fit the FTO the std 296mm discs and calipers would fit under 16" rims too.with spacers.I an just in the process of doing a write up about it I will post here if anyone interested anyone is interested. Here is some pics to whet your appetite.
