Can anyone tell me what dis is???

hey ther is a black plastic box on the left side of my intake manifold on my gr.i took the manifold off to spray it an i took dis off an the gear indiside it sprung an i put it back on hopeing it would be ok but wen i puteverything back on again the cars power bad was not at 4500rpm anymore.ther is two connectors on this box also. im wanting to know if this has to be set to a set angle thanks any help welcome.
