Exhaust repairs

Postby thesaint » Wed Jul 11, 2007 12:06 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know anywhere around the dublin area preferably west that can repair FTO exhausts?

Most of the main exhaust places say they don't stock the parts, I need the middle section replaced. Do I have to source the parts myself and get them fitted. Are there any other mitsu model exhausts that would do the job?

Cheers.

Better off putting up a wanted post up here for a centre section - a list price OE centre section is likely to be costly. A lot of guys on here have changed their exhaust for aftermarket items though I suspect a lot of this is down to the fact the centre section had rotted away - still someone may have a centre section lying around their shed - I have one that I had welded onto an RSR backbox but its in only OK condition.

TBH - you are probably better off buying a Catback exhaust from Ricerocket or Camskill - will sound and look better to boot.

I'd definately recommend getting a mongoose cat back.

From my experience if you can see/hear holes in an exhaust it's probably worse than you think anyway so fixing it up is almost always a very very temporary solution.

Had the same problem myself recently. Prices are pretty mad to get a bit welded in, I was quoted 250 to get a center bit stuck in and that ain't in stainless steel. Had a long think and got a custom stainless steel made with quads done for 750. If your holding onto to the car for a while get a new system if you can afford it....

Postby dy1an » Mon Dec 10, 2007 3:03 pm

Pretty much any garage/tyre fitter etc should be able to fit the exhaust - its not rocket science - just a few nuts and bolts really. Who normally services your FTO?

I would avoid the likes of quick fit and advance where possible. These muppets always seem to spin some sort of crap or other. The privately owned and managed garages tend to be a lot more accomodating.

Ah yeah Dy1an - pay no attention to those fools..

A few of those places are alright - generally the ones slightly off the beaten path - Outside the City..

As a rule of thumb I try and steer clear of "the franchised ones" as they will rip you off :-) it's what they do..
