Flush Doors - No Handles?

Postby rsg » Fri Jun 24, 2005 1:05 am

Has anyone ever considered making theirs doors flush - with no handles?

I think it actually looks quite nice and I've never seen it before. You can get something called "clickers" or something to that effect which pops your doors open at the push of a button.

What ya think - heres a photochop.

It is a cool 8) mod but with the suspect door locks on the FTO i'd be afraid of them failing and not being able to get into the car :( Having said that, it's a mod i have allways wanted to do.

Looks great, but I'd have the same fears!! It's not like you can climb through the boot (had to do that before!!)

Anything that cleans up the lines of the car is good as far as I'm concerned - better mod than Lambo doors IMHO.

So I guess no one's pulled this off yet?

I would definitely consider it as well, but maybe look at first upgrading the motors on the door locks and maybe even using a secondary power source of some sort.

I think this has been done on an episode of "Pimp my Ride", haven't seen it though.

As dave said it has been done several time in the uk i think the average cost of getting it done is about £800 and as regards the door lock motors the upgrade that some of the owners use are these

Look great , but remember if you need an NCT they will require that you have handles on the doors. A buddy of mine has it done and needed to get two other doors fitted to pass NCT.

They're so strict over there regarding cars, sounds like the NCT testers are full of it.

I could have an exhaust the size of a drain pipe with a decat and a wooden spoiler and still pass any SA car tests - even if I needed to slip the guys R200. But I suppose thats why you won't find a car that shoud've been scrapped 10 years ago cruising 20mph on your highways...or will you?

Thanks for the link Daz, i'll consider this once I sell my car and get another.
