Kaces GPX last Friday

Postby CJ » Wed Aug 02, 2006 1:36 pm

Forgot to post earlier but I spotted Kaces silver GPX up at Paul Nolans last Friday (I was leaving the Rex in to have the diff replaced). Paul mentioned that the GPX was running really well, what did you get done Kace, general service?

At my last service a few months ago Paul said I should get the brakes bled as I was having to depress the pedal a good bit before the brakes engaged. Brakes themselves work fine but pedal just needed to be pressed down a good bit. Passed the NCT just fine all the same.

So just dropped it back out for him to do this - Paul bled the brakes but it turned out that this wasn't the issue. The front calliper sliders had actually seized and Paul needed to repair one and replace the other to free them up.

Brake pedal is now solid and requires very little depression before brakes engage now.

How are everyone elses brakes - do people have to push the pedal down much before the brakes engage or are they generally nice and tight ?

My brakes are all over the shop..

definately asking paul to have a look when I'm getting my suspension sorted..

If I brake REALLY hard..my front passenger side will lock up..have to kinda pump the pedal if I want real braking power..two pumps on the pedal does the job - but I know it shouldn't be like that..

Sounds air in the system and/or a seized caliper on the driver side front...

aye..it's a bit random too...like some days it'll be fine, then others it'll be terrible..have new pads to get fitted - so gonna get paul to do that as soon as he can... better safe than up a tree...
