Boot lid - worth repairing?

Postby kevinod » Fri Jul 01, 2005 1:55 pm

Guys,

when my FTO arrived the boot lid that was on it had an extra pair of holes drilled in it, presumably for those spoilers that have 2 'legs'. When I got the car it had the standard spoiler back on and the extra holes covered with duct tape.

I got a replacement bootlid from rory which is what is on my car now, but I'm thinking of getting the original one repaired and selling it on... Only I'm wondering if it would be worth my while. I'm going to wander down in a while and ask the body shop guy I've used before how much it would cost.

Anyone have a good idea roughly what a boot lid in good condition would be worth?

Don't know re the value - depends on the market at the time and what someone is willing to pay TBH. I wouldn't mind having a spare boot lid so that I could switch between the Hiro or the bare ass look depending on the mood. 8)

Actually, my bootlid won't close on the first or second attempt! Don't know if I'd bother buying a replacement, but I'm sure there are people out there...

Maybe the latch needs a bit of oil?

Based on the quote I got I don't think I'll get it done myself, I think I'll take a few pics and see if anyone fancies having a go themselves...
