Shane how did your Z get on in the RR?

Grand - 398bhp at the flywheel - something like 340ish at the wheels. 354Lb/ft of torque though (which is nice). It was a very hot day and they said under normal conditions I'd be seeing 400-410bhp. They said fueling was absolutely spot on with very good power considering the supercharger is running at low psi (conservative map for standard internals). I'd say I'm getting this level of power (at such low psi) mostly due to the other mods - uprated fuel pump, fuel pressure reg, 550cc injectors, uprated APS oil pan, increased volume APS plenum, hi flow cats, true dual exhaust etc etc and of course the UTEC EMS with good mapping (thanks Dave).

Its was on a Dyno dynamics roller and its known that these guys give very accurate readings - saw a couple of guys going away with their tail between their legs yesterday having got the bad news (low bhp/bad fueling etc). Most impressive car on the dyno though was the 30year old Jensen Interceptor with a brand new Corvette 6.1l LS2 engine (uprated AP racing brakes and suspension) which put out around 450bhp. Same car put in a 4 sec 0-60 run and late 13's on 1/4 mile. Quite the sleeper.

Good to hear that it's running well, I got a bit of stick in certain circles for going to CDA to get them to map the car, but in fairness, Nick knows his stuff and did exactly as I asked, I wanted 400bhp but I wanted it to be safe all the way!

On a side note Shane, with an upgraded pulley and changing the map, the charger would be able for a good 9psi, a few of the guys in the US are running up to 9psi!! That would be good for 450+ I'd imagine, but you'd have to consider internals at that stage and then you've to ask the question, would spending the money on the internals be worth it for the extra 50 or so bhp!! (What psi/bar did it manage, about 7psi? .5bar?)

If it is, Alex is your man, offered me a built small block for £4K....

Guys in the US are running up to 10psi on the Vortech in many cases on the stock block. I'd def have to consider internals if going up from 7psi - and we're getting into big bucks for that - for the moment the Zed is a quite usable daily driver and has plenty of power for 99.9% of the time I'll be driving it.

The guys in West Coast Performance (who did the rolling road at Sleek) did say they'd be interested in using the Zed as a guinea pig for a 4.2 litre stroker short block - so that'd be an interesting route. By biggest concern though is why chase bhp numbers with a supercharger? If you're looking for 500bhp + then you're probably better off to go the turbo and built engine route (and I don't see that happening anytime soon).

However as I found out - without traction all the above is useless - I was doing faster 0-60 times in my last NA Zed (5.1 secs) because I had better traction. So next on the list has to be a set of 18's with some R888s and an aftermarket 1.5 or 2 way diff.

4.2 stroker would be sweet, that along with a charger would surely get you close to the 500bhp, but it's serious money!!

CDA will also do an engine build for you, I'll email on prices, but all with Cosworth parts so $$$$$$$

If you were ever considering the 500bhp+ mark then turbo's are the way to go, along with a built engine, but you're looking at another 20K, probably more..

Whatever I'll be doing - I won't be spending anything like 20K on more mods to chase 100bhp.

Oh god no....... but you could go bigger turbos and look for 600-650bhp as Alex has!! :) not really a practical daily driver though!

Thread ressurection - but I finally got the Kaaz Diff fitted and along with a few other mods (decats etc) am now running 418bhp and 353 ftIb torque.

Also have a set of R888's on Rota drifts in the shed so not far off getting all this power on the road.
Some cosmetic mods are next on the agenda so watch this space.

Very smooth power curve MfFTO. Do you find any improvement with the 1.5 way in terms of traction?

Early days yet but Couture Auto seem to have done a really good job of setting up the backlash on the diff. None of the tell tale bangs and clatters you often hear from aftermarket LSDs when the backlash isn't set up properly. Just a bit of wheel scrabble at low speed when you lock the steering. This diff should really have been at least on option on the Zed out of the box.

First impressions are that the Zed is now really able to hook up the power to the tarmac and the Zed also feels much more direct when you take a bend or roundabout. I'm looking forward to the next 1/4 mile - was pretty pissed off at the last couple of 1/4 miles when I found the OE viscous diff just wasn't up to the job of putting 400bhp+ onto the tarmac - The R888s (put them on 18 inch gunmetal Rota drifts) and Kaaz will def sort that out - I'll be able to launch at much higher revs now and the Zed will stick.

Good news, I was going to email you to see how you were getting on with it... in fairness, Couture do seem to know their stuff and were always extremely helpful!

Let me know when you're ready to sell her back to me! ;)

Yeah - Nick took a genuine interest in the Zed and it shows through the detail in the work that he does.

Seeing as I've spent circa 10K on the Zed since I bought it from you I think I'll be holding onto it for a little while. Its absolutely spot on and a monster to drive at the minute. You never get back what you put into these cars but at least I'll get some craic out of it in the meantime.

I'll post up some photos when I get my cosmetic bits and bobs finally sorted (still waiting on Envy for some parts I paid for last October  ).

Looks like a nice Zed.
Same supercharger unit (Vortech) - don't know what injectors he's running (hope they're not stock - I have 550cc) and I have a different plenum (APS tall boy) and a different ECU (UTEC) and I also have a larger volume APS oil pan (he has a spacer on his OE oil pan).
Big difference between these cars would be I seem to have a better suspension set-up (Tein coilovers with EDFC, uprated control arms, Nismo ARBs etc) and along with my JWT clutch and lightened flywheel and now the Kaaz diff it would most likely feel quite different to drive.
