bizzare combination of tiptronic box and GPvR spec, which is supposed to be the balls-out lightweight high performance model.

should be 5 speed tip, which would help.

I reckon you'd be better off spending the money on Jays manual GPvR esp considering the amount of tasty mods on it - http://www.fto-ireland.com/forum/phpBB2 ... php?t=7472

Agreed but im not paying near the asking price on the other one. Was talking to him and he dropped a fair bit. Obviously id prefer Jays one but there price difference is significant.

looks like its had a nice size smack on the front bumper too. damage very visible on lower lip, plus its sitting low. the gap between the bumper and bonnet is quite wide.

yeah i noticed the gap alright but i thought it just stood out more because the car is white? looked at few others and most seem to have it. It does look a bit wider than most alright though...

Now there's two over exagerated statements if ever I heard.
There's a scrape on the lower part of the front bumper, looks like he might have hit a kerb while parking. The bonnet -bumper gap does not look excessiive to me, especially considering the angle it was taken at.
You make it sound like the thing had been wrapped around a pole.

Getting back to the original question. The car looks quite tidy and on the face of it looks like a good buy. Suspiciously cheap perhaps? IIRC corectly it's been on the market for a while -no real issue there as I suspect the ar$e has fallen out of the market. It may be a genuine 'quick sale' there agin it may be a money pit. make sure you know which before parting with money.

Doesn't look too bad to me... it doesn't have the Mitsi badge on the nose which prob draws attention away from that gap when its on. that and it being white I guess.

Whats all the wires coming off the battery for?

That'd be a grounding kit - supposed to fix noise issues and give you a cleaner ignition or something :-)

Combine it with a set of nice stickers and you'll gain 5bhp ;-) - nah seriously, it's meant to be a good mod if there are issue with noise and such in your electrics.

Id definately want to do my homework alright. I had noticed it had been up for sale for quite awhile so i really haggled over the price. Im guessing the timing belt hasn't been done so i'm prepared to pay for that but still i think Id be getting a good deal. So has it been spotted around by anybody at all?

Consider your options carefully :-) very carefully..

Did you test drive both manual and tip versions?

no, Martin is going to give me a tiptronic driving lesson during the week alright though. Dont know how to drive one! Think id be better holding off for manual one is it? TBH im not as concerned about additional weight if thats what your getting at, as long as its it good condition...

Would I be right in saying a tiptronic GPvR would weigh more than a manual GPX?

Correct. A manual GPX or GPvR is def worth the extra bucks and will also offer better resale. Plus if you were to take into account putting a set of decent rims onto it you are back at JayVR money again.

Spend the money initially and you will save overall. It could work out to be an expensive 1.5K "saving".

I'd say definately get a test spin in JayVR s It'll give you something to use as a reference point. Then it's up to yourself to budget for service parts, mods, rims and otherwise...

Gap in the bonnet doesnt look much, I thought mine was like that when I saw pics but I think its just the angle, I also have a scape on my front bumper but I wonder how many people actually notice. And I have that grounding kit, 'cept in yellow not red, caused major confusion when I went to get a battery fitted yesterday with the fitters! (Which incidentally they wont do cause the lugs are a different size or some crap). Same spoiler as yours Mustang is it? Nice car I think, looks well anyway.

Wouldn't worry too much about it being for sale for quite some time, mine was parked up for 6 months sure before I bought it. People are more wary with their money now, especially with the horrible 'R' word on the way and the price of petrol...

For the price you are getting it Chris I would have to have a suspicion over it. The guy is practically giving it away.

I think given the saving you could make if it is a genuine car I would spend the extra couple of € and get it checked over by a professional like the AA or some one similar. If he ahs any objections then leave it after you.

That gap definitely doesn't look good - when you look at it from the front the whole bonnet seems to be shifted over to the left also - compare gaps on both sides. Now why would this be I wonder :?: prang
