Third party extension vs. named driver

Are there any benefits to naming a driver on a third party policy if they have third party extention built into their own policy (particularly if you're both with the same company)

If said individual is your wife/girlfriend, most 'proper' insuarnce companies will offer a discount. My GF and I are both with the same company, we both get a small discount, for having the other one named on our policies, we also get a slight discount for having two policies with the same co. If you are still with QD they will probably charge you an administration fee just for answering the phone. If there is no additional cost involved then you definitely should. Typically when it's your spouce I belive it's free of charge anyway with 'normal' insurance companies.
