RACELOGIC VSAM info sought

Postby karnevil » Thu May 06, 2010 1:58 pm

Hi all big ask for my first proper post but I have the Proton 1.8 Racelogic VSAM unit which I have recently fitted to my car.
Today I have run it on a local RR and it has given me 7 more HP and around 3-4 LB/FT tourque.
Now I have been in touch with Racelogic but they have very little info in their archive of how to alter any parameters on it.
I have a copy of the software.
I have a diagram for the wiring of the lead obtained from Racelogic.

VSAM Wire Assignment COM port PIN

Black Ground PIN 5

Green Serial Rx PIN 2

Yellow Serial Tx PIN 3

However I cannot get any response from the unit to the PC,but I have Vista. The RR guy tried with my software on XP but had no luck.
I have checked the lead it is.I believe wired as it should.

If anyone has any info about how to use this system, eguipment needed, methods etc I would be really gratefull.Even the most mundane or obvious would help.

Thanks Andy.

IIRC, the VSAM logic isn't isn't configurable. I had one about 7 years ago and got rid of it - power was down on the rollers with it fitted. Proton 1.8 unit - have you got this fitted to an FTO? In our experience, interfacing aftermarket electronics with the standard ECU is a waste of money on stock hardware, the gains aren't there without spending big bucks on auxiliary mods.

Perhaps the older revision (c. 2001) wasn't programmable, at the time, there was little value interfacing it with the FTOs ECU.
