Alternator...? Battery...? Something else...?

Hi guys,

Just replaced the alternator and battery with brand new ones and still having problems (see video). Voltmeter sits at 12V, then rises to 13.8V when revved... then drops back down to 12V again. Dash lighting also returns to normal brightness when at 13.8V and dims when down at 12V.

Anybody any idea what is happening here? Could the alternator be faulty? This is the 2nd battery (HCB005) I've tried and same issues occurring so I'm certain it's not the battery. Could it be anything else?

The battery that was in the car when you took it was brand new. As you've replaced it again, it's definitely not a battery issue. It will be something simple I bet. Have a look at http://www.fto-ireland.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6892.
