Brembo's

Postby Dave » Mon Oct 10, 2005 9:14 am

Fitted these over the weekend, well my mechanic did, he tried them out and said that the standard ones actually felt better, and that i might need a new master cylinder, now i know the pads have to be bedded in and he used dot4 and i had dot5 that i forgot to give him.
Surely i couldn't be this unlucky and need a new master cylinder!! (Camskill charge £250)

I seem to remember reading somthing about the need to properly size the caliper displacement with the master cylinder, smaller MC's won't be able to provide enough pressure for a big brake conversion. The GS\GR master cylinders have different part numbers so I would assume they are different sizes? There must be some guys in the UK who have dropped big brakes onto a GS :?:

To be honest it wouldn't suprise me if you had to upgrade the master cylinder - a lot of guys in the uk have upgraded from standard brakes on they're gti's to brembo's, AP's or Porsche Boxster brakes and loads of them needed to upgrade the master cylinder too....

well the master cylinder that camskill sell is an OE part and fits all FTO's, didn't realise that i'd need a bigger master cylinder, i've posted it on the UK forum, not too sure about people fitting them to GS's but there would have to be some that have fitted it to the GR's

I'm sure I read a post somewhere on ftooc.org ages ago about martin while bowrrowing japco's GS which had brembo's fitted. I'd check with giles (or even ping martin).
