Hey everyone, i just bought a '95 gpx automatic. Its all original n i'm excited about making it my own. The only problem is i would have loved a manual but i had to buy a tiptronic for health reasons but i'm finding its not really as speedy as i expected. It was sitting around for 9 months without being driven....

Try driving it in tiptronic mode. how high does it rev to?
I'd recommend you get it serviced, new air filter, new plugs etc.
If you're in Dublin, there's a guy called Paul Nolan that you should visit for a once over.

Welcome. Lot of introduction posts today! Good sign!
The tip should be practically just as quick as the manual, I find it no problem keeping up with fellas with manual cars anyway when we take off together. It should lose a bit of hp through the gearbox but I still find it keeps up well.

I just bought a gr manual 2 days ago and same as you it was sitting around for a while, best thing to do is get all the fluids changed and check the plugs.
I heard the plugs are dear due to the type but i don't know if that counts for all fto or just certain types. bare in mind you have 6 and their about 20 quid a pop.

Don't believe everything you hear,
www.camskill.co.uk sell long life Iridium plays for £6 each.
Any FTO thats been lying up for a while should be treated to a full service and mechanical inspection.

You'll find that while FTOs are pretty quick, they don't tend to feel that dast because the power is distributed very evenly over the broad rev range. As a result, even though it will keep up with most cars on the road, it lacks that pushed-back-in-your-seat feeling that you get in a diesel or turbo.

I think what you need to remember is that the car looks awesome and turns a lot of heads. Sure there are quicker cars, but in this price range I think the FTO gives you the best bang for buck.
Also, very welcome to the forums.
