Bleeding brakes

Postby finers » Sat Mar 07, 2009 9:08 pm

Hey did a quick search for this but only came up with this link:
http://www.mitsubishi-fto.org/workshop/ ... index.html

Says they used a suction pump to do it,

I replaced a back caliper today as it was sticking,
after fitting the new one i opened the brake lien connection to the caliper and pumped the break a good bit expelling alot of fluid,
Breaks feel spongy now so i presume some air is still locked? its driveable but annoying.

Can anyone give me a few tips or tricks when i go at it tomorrow?
this is what i taught i should have done?

1) open the connection onto the caliper get "someone" to pump break a few times then get them to floor it while i tighten it up?

Any help much apreciated.

Sean.

Hi Sean
Done mine a few weeks ago aswell was also sticking,

Just took out caliper, removed pistons and replaced the seals very straight forward job only cost 24 euros for kit i think,

Anyways when i was bleeding them i had a friend pump the brake pedal until they felt hard
Then he keeps the pressure on the pedal and i opened the small bolt to release any air thats trapped.
Repeat this process again until u see a sign of fluid trying to escape.

Hope this is of some help

You're probably as well to bleed the whole system.

better off bleedin the whole system,if ya only bleed one you'll still have air in the system which could mean the end of your front end, everything to do with the brakes should be taken seriously and never rushed!!!
