On a similar note, I notice that theres a whole load of FTO's that have been in the B&S for ages now, and none of them seem to be selling. On the surface, its obvious that most of them are overpriced but in saying that, FTOs go for mad money in the UK (when you do the conversion).

yea - I haven't had her in for a while then I put her in for 7400 and this week decided that it was time to push the boat out and dropped the price to 7k. I don't really want to go any lower cause although its not the fanciest visually (does that make sense???) and it suffers the usual FTO rattles, it's a great car and I've had absolutely no problems in 2 years of ownership. And there are some nice touches (exhaust, spings, dials etc).

I just need more power!!!

Strange, when I was looking for mine I noticed that most of them seemed to go quick enough. Haven't looked in a while now but the B&S would have around 15 or so, these would all generally go, maybe 4 or 5 left. Then a few weeks later another 15 or so would be up for sale. The ones in Autotrader and CBG all seem to be sold too in a few weeks only to be replaced by more which seem to go also.

The garage I got mine had 3 when I bought mine and 3 or so weeks later they were all gone.

As regards the UK market don't they seem to have a lot more newer versions than we have here? Would that account for high prices?

Well 95 GPXs seem to be going for around the £7-8k (€10-11.5k) which seems mad money to me. That said, a 97 GPvR will set you back about £11k (€15.8k) which is what you expect to pay here for the same car, mind you they're as rare as hell, last 97 GPvR I saw for sale was going for €18k or something silly like that.

Cause insurance is much cheaper in the UK more and younger guys can afford to drive an FTO so there are more people buying hence keeping the price up (more demand than supply) - over here we've only got a small select market - most people who can afford to insure FTO's prefer to spend more on a car and go for something newer (probably cause they don't realise how good the FTO actually is). so here demand is not as high so prices go down! you only have to look at the prices for Golf's to see the opposite happen - crap car (except for the good build quality) but pretty expensive thanks to a big demand....... although why I don't know <start_rant>:evil: IMHO this is cause most golf drivers think that they're special, cool, high earners and are better than the common man but they are actually tossers who have paid a premium for a crap car(once again except for its build quality) - Note: NOI to any golf drivers, I''ve just had bad experiences with a few over the past month or so and I know too many arsehole D4 wannabies who are driving a golf <end_rant>

Maybe its just because I drive one but ever since I have got interested in them I have seen the number increase in the last few months.

Ciaran, any chance of being able to increase the maximum execution time to a bit longer than 30 secs. Those of us with slow connections at work (maybe just me?) then to time out a lot trying to access pages at certain times.

Ivan, can you send me on details of when you get timeouts, ie. posting viewing, at certain times of the day etc, also what sort of net connection do you have (at the moment I'm using dialup from home and I never get timeout issues).I havn't seen this problem in some time, but I will look into the code behind the forum with a view to changing the timeout period. If anyone else has had similar problems of late, can they let me know.

I am using an ISDN line, standard 64k I think but the problem is that the line is split between 20 or so of us in the office so you can imagine things can get slow judging on who's on it etc.

It seems that when the net is going as slow as it does here at times the pages just time out and it can be diificult accessing them. So it seems more to do with the connection rather than the time of the connection. The pages seem small enough so there probably is enough time in dial up connections to get the data without any real problems. Its just seems in extreme cases (mine when 20 are using the line at the same time) that the error occurs.

Don't worry about it if its a pain in the ar$e to change, but if it is a simple thing to fix, would make accessing the forum a bit easier at times for me.

I'll take a look into it Ivan but I'm pretty sure that the 30 sec timeout is hardcoded into the software. The problem you're having is a result of a busy line (which you already know), if the forum dosn't get certain info back from your browser with a certain timeframe, it just times out.

I used other forums with a similar format and I don't have the same problem so it is something that can be changed I presume as otherwise it would be something that I would encounter more often. Obviously just a setting that needs adjusting or that is set to 30 secs as default.

As I said before, if its a pain don't worry about it but thamks anyway.

As for seeing FTO's. I have seen 3 this week, 4 if you include a mate of mine. But I work on the west side of the city and live in the south. So its usually between those two areas I see them.
