Deal on Drop Links

Postby steelroe » Sat Jul 03, 2004 8:27 pm

I can get front and rear (uprated) droplinks for approx €130 for a set of four delivered any where in Ireland. Front and rear will also be sold seperately.
Camskill currently selling set of 4 for £100 plus carriage (approx €180)

The more orders I can get the cheaper the price will be.
I have a guy trying to source cheaper bushings aswell. Will know more towards the end of the week.

Let me know if anyone is interested

Mate if you can sell them that cheep you should start sending them to england you'd probably undercut the prices of camskill's/funky ect.

RE: Front + Rear droplinks and bushings

Postby Barry » Sun Jul 11, 2004 7:36 pm

Hi Steelroe,

I'll take a set of front and shortened rear droplinks + bushings off your hands ASAP.

Out of curiousity

Can you get the polyurethane bushings?

Rory,
I would probably be interested. My car is making a 'clunk' noise both front & rear on the rough stuff, ok on smooth tarmac. I guess it's one of or a combination of bushings, shocks or droplinks.
Might be interested in the bushings as well if you can supply.

Can anyone advise on a way to check if the drop links are shot?

Only real to know for sure is to take them off and check how loose the joints are. Usually if there is clunking noise it would be shot links. I had a loud banging noise from the back end and it turned out to be the bushings on the stabiliser arm. If you look in the download section of this site at the exploded rear suspension drawings, the parts i am talking about are 41399B and 41399C. When these bushings are worn you get a loud bang if you hit even small potholes.

Another thing that can cause clunking are the suspension top mounts.

One of the first jobs I did 18 months ago when I bought the GPX was to replace the links and bushings, I am replacing them all again tomorrow as the car feels like crap over rough roads. Mitsi links and bushing just do not stand up to Irish roads. Also changing the Shocks with new uprated KYB's which I can also supply to anyone interested.

As you can see from above your problem may be a combination, I would replace the anti roll bushes and links first as it is the least costly.

Have a busy weekend ahead, also fitting CAT replacement pipe, A pillar pod gauges, fitting 17" league Tantrums, coil springs, Strut braces,

Whoops - Bit late for me Steelroe.

I have unfortunately spent over €250 on droplinks and polyurethane bushes with Camskill just 4 weeks ago. This is the second FTO I have had to sort in this regard but the difference is quite noticable once done - much sharper in bends and roundabouts.

If anyone here has had their FTO on Irish roads for any length of time this is a most worthwhile buy - if droplinks & bushes have never been done before then chances are a 95-98 car will need them.

Can't go wrong at this money in any event.
