Wiper Arms

Postby Mustang » Mon Aug 30, 2010 11:18 pm

My wiper arms are looking tired. Before I do a DIY job on them I wanted to weigh up the cost of just replacing them. Camskill do a pair for £74.95 -a bit rich for my blood. Could someone with caps please check the mitsi part numbers, and check for cross compatibility with another model? ANd or does anybody know who the original equipment manufacturer is? I can't find any identification of the manufacturer, they do have markings though.
The passanger side has the following markings, 1Q22-AS-1 (on the short section bolted to the car) and 1Q-DOM-L on the long part of the arm.
The drivers side has the following markings, 1Q22-DR-1 (on the short section) and 1Q22-DOM-R on the long section.

I checked with my local mitsi dealer. €62.37+ Vat each
Surely there is an after market alternative?

I must have a go and refurb mine also . Mustang you must be nuts to buy new ones , spray and primer would only cost you around 25 quid.

No I'd be nuts to pay the Mitsubishi/ camskill price to replace something that wasn't broken -nothing wrong with buying new ones -at the right price. Wiper arms for other cars can be had aftermarket, for about €20 to €25, each -which is reasonable enough, to have something brand new and shiney.
Having hit a dead end looking online I've bit the bullet and refurbed the current set, I've removed, stripped, primed and painted them, going back on the car this evening.

Having sent my car for a respray last week i thought it would have been ashame to leave the wiper arms out of the equation. My dad shot blast them and i primed/sprayed and laquered them - hard as nails now and look great.

In case your all wondering i will be putting a post up about all the work i've done on the car since i bought it in march (its only just on the road as of this week!)
